Corneal Thickness

My Corneal Thickness is 490 micron, doctor say that its a thin cornea and not suitable for lasik.Now I drop my decision for lasik.I want to know that Thin Cornea can cause any problem in future. At some stage in my life.

Thin corneas without any ectatic disorders per say won't cause any problem .....and as already told by your doctor that Lasik is not suitable ...so that's true.....for getting rid of your glasses you can opt for other refractive procedures other than lasik

No, a cornea which is just normally thin , if not interfered ( as in lasik) and if no ectatic disorders are there( like keratoconous) ...will not be a problem in future ! Depending on your refractive error n willingness to get rid of glasses, there will be other options too.

During Lasik, a layer of cornea is peeled off. This reduces its overall thickness. If the thickness is very less before the procedure, the final thickness that is left behind post procedure will be very less which reduces the strength of cornea and can cause protrusion called as ectasia. Ectasia then may need surgical correction if its severe.
