What you are describing -feeling emotionally upset and burdened by unresolved childhood experience is not uncommon. Early life events can leave deep emotional imprints and when they remain unprocessed they may manifest late as persistent distress, intrusive memories, low mood or difficulty in moving forward. The important thing to remember is that this is not a sign of weakness. many doctors experience similar struggles because we often carry unspoken expectations to be resilient at all times.
Next Steps
psychotherapy can help you process and reframe those past experiences so that they no longer weigh as heavily on you. If your mood, sleep or functioning is significantly affected short term medication support may also be considered
Health Tips
I would strongly encourage you to consult a mental health professional personally so that your experience can be explored in a safe and  confidential setting. with support it is very much possible to come out of the shadow of the past trauma and live more freely in the present.

Hello, It’s incredibly brave of you to acknowledge this pain.. even more so as a doctor, someone trained to “hold it together.” But just because you can carry the weight doesn’t mean you should. Childhood wounds often stay tucked away until life demands we pause and tend to them.. not with judgment, but with care. Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you feel whole, even with the past still in your story. Warmly, Seema
