Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

Currently I am 26 weeks Pregnant. I am suffering from middle finger numbness and pain. Due to which I was unable to have a sound sleep for about 7 nights. Basically, I am having some nerve pull kind of pain under my left shoulder just above the left hand back bone. I was feeling okay for 2 days and now it has become severe today. It's like whole left hand is paining. I read through pregnancy book and got same symptom which is called as carpal tunnel syndrome. Could you please advise the next thing to do, as I am having pain and might have a sleepless night even now. I am already doing all the exercises as advised by a physiotherapist but it's of no help.

Not just exercises would help, but first of all take proper Physiotherapy treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome which includes ultrasound, TENS and Mobilisation for at least 7 to 10 days. Thereafter start exercises for carpal tunnel syndrome.

It is better not to take medication for carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy. Use carpal tunnel splints, learn wrist positioning and usage from a physiotherapist. Symptoms usually get better within 3 months after delivery, so be patient

Dear friend As you are pregnant and in pregnancy all the ligaments of our body are laxed.. So many times you get these pains. But don't worry do some neck stretchings every day and change your pillow if it helps. If your wrist is in pain use splint.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS is a likely problem during pregnancy. In CTS, symptoms of numbness and or tingling are restricted to below the wrist i.e palm and fingers and not above that. Considering your pregnancy, medications are not recommended. It will be better for you to see a doctor in person. Using carpa stretch (splint support) may help you get some relief

It could be carpal tunnel syndrome but for shoulder problem require a change in posture and stretching  of scapular muscle and pectoral muscle. Strengthening of rhomboids and middle and lower trapezius. This will reduce pressure on nerve passing under the muscle and reduce symptoms.
