Back and tail bone pain, stiffness

I have a spinal injury that turned into a constant dull pain, loss of mobility and stiffness and weakness of my entire back, especially lower. It has been more than a year. Recently did an MRI. It is written "l5-s1 shows diffuse disc bulge and posterocentral disc protrusion causing partial effacement of the anterior thecal sac. this is causing narrowing of the spinal canal and bilateral lateral canal resulting in abutting of bilateral traversing nerve roots. disc dessication is noted." How bad the result is? Do I need to get a surgery or this is curable with meds and exercise? I haven't shown my results to the doctor yet.
