Alcohol on long term daily use (e.g., around 2-3 years or longer) has been reported to worsen sleep quality, duration, and also causes disturbances like bad dreams etc. if you have been taking alcohol for long time it may have caused enough damage in your brain that your sleep has now been started to be affected.
As for anxiety, it is very common for people with anxiety to have sleep disturbances also. Although alcohol is anxiolytic but alcohol and anxiety together can cause more harm to sleep.
There are better medicines that treat anxiety much better and for longer term than alcohol. Consider taking treatment for both.
