I am 36, I am suffering from anxiety and panick attacks since last 6 years, because of this I never thought of conceiving baby and postponed everytime. However, now we are planning for baby and thinking about healthy baby. I have question regarding this, how can I go through this whole journey with severe anxiety and breathlessness ? What if I get panick attack during pregnancy? Is there any medicine which is safe during pregnancy? I have gone throughout psychiatry treatment since long time but anxiety will relapse after some time.

Anxiety occurs due to reduced serotonin in mind to explain to a layman. Since your mind ( located in the brain) has reduced serotonin due to various factors You are having anxiety disorder. SSRIs or medicines acting on anxiety disorder replenishes Or normlaises this and And relieves the symptoms of anxiety. When stopped naturally you don't have sufficient serotonin and you relapse. It is like taking medicine for thyroid problem or diabetes. So consult an astute psychiatrist and take safe medications for anxiety for going through pregnancy safely. Good luck.
