Hello, thank you for sharing your concern. Ashwagandha is a natural adaptogen and can help reduce anxiety and improve stress response. However, when combined with antidepressants, there may be mild interactions in some cases. Since your psychiatrist has reduced the dosage and you’re stable, you should only start Ashwagandha after approval from your treating psychiatrist. #MentalHealthSupport #Ashwagandha #OCDRecovery #DrJigneshAhir #MindBodyBalance #AntidepressantCare
Next Steps
1. Ask if it’s safe to add based on your current medication and mental health status. 2. Monitor yourself for any changes in mood, sleep, or alertness after starting. 3. Do not stop or adjust your antidepressants without psychiatrist’s guidance.
Health Tips
Ashwagandha may cause drowsiness or interact with SSRIs/SNRIs. If you experience any side effects (like dizziness, irritability, or restlessness), stop immediately and consult your doctor. Always introduce herbal supplements gradually and under supervision.

Ashwagandha is a herbal supplement often used to help with stress, anxiety, and fatigue. In many cases, it is considered safe, but combining it with antidepressants should always be done with caution and under medical supervision. Since your general physician recommended it, but you're under the care of a psychiatrist, it is very important to inform your psychiatrist before starting Ashwagandha. They can assess any possible interaction based on the specific antidepressant you're on.
