Alternates of RCT

2018-05-11 15:13:26
I just visited a dentist who suggests me to go with Drilling and filling of my tooth rather than go for RCT(suggested my previous doctor as per condition of my tooth) . This doctor said it's better to give a chance rather than go for RCT... because RCT is the final choice... I'm confused among the choices, can anyone please help

Dear patient, It is always better to go for a filling. It is a less intensive, less time consuming...and of course less expensive treatment. The tooth will be healed and will serve you for many many years. If later in life, the filling gets chipped off, you can get a re-filling done. Or a root canal later in life. So go foe the filling. Hope this helps

Hi it's always better to give  chance for filling ..if after doing filling you are pain free and with no symptoms then you can continue using filling for longer duration of time..other wise u already have option for goon Root canal to save the tooth

Hi First go for filling of the tooth with temporary filling material.  if there is no pain after 2 weeks of filling get permanent filling done. If there is pain on temporary filling then go for rct.

Hi.. you can visit my clinic in Pune for free consultation .we can make x ray and even after that while removing decay...we can decide best if you require RCT or filling is sufficient. Only pain is never indication of root canal treatment.
Next Steps
Start for filling...with readyness to go for RCT at that moment depending on decay reach.
Health Tips
It's conservative approach but needs good diagnosis...

If your complaint was pain before going to meet the dentist then most probably your pulp tissue might have exposed for which the best option is RCT considering the longevity of the teeth. If you go for pulp capping with calcium hydroxide for time being it will be ok but eventually you may get pain and it will be difficult to do an RCT that time since calcification of your canal may happen so a proper RCT will be difficult. I personally suggest if pain go for RCT rather than compromised treatment s
Next Steps
get an xray
Health Tips
pain of more than 24 hrs ,on and off history of pain of  same teeth , RCT

Hello, This can be individual choice of treatment by your respective dentists. Pin point exposure of pulp can successfully be treated with certain types of filling but where there is deep cavity with exposed pulp or very near to pulp associated with poor personal hygiene choice of treatment is RCT Regards

The option of rct or restoration depends on x ray And if coronal pulp is involving then pulp capping can be done rather than root canal treatment  and If there is pin point exposure also if your dentist has hard tissue laser then you can completely avoid root canal treatment You can get laser anesthesia for exposed area And treatment depends on clinical and x ray examination

Root canal treatment is done when the pulp of tooth gets exposed .so if it is a borderline case where the tooth can be saved with restoration.there is no harm in saving a tooth .
Next Steps
rvg or x ray for diagnosis by dentist
Health Tips

If you do not have pain then better option is to go for filling. If you have more sensitivity and if the cavity is close to pulp then better go for root canal treatment
