Allergic rhinitis is a very persistent problem. Taking levocetrizine in long term is not an issue. Neither is fluticasone. Patients have been taking it for a long term too. But avoidance of allergen exposure is the best way to reduce the occurrence of symptoms. Immunotherapy has also been shown effective with symptom free periods of upto 6 months. But it is still not very cost effective. Also a CT scan can help to know if there is any fungal elements in the sinuses which is causing recurrent symptoms. Please consult a ENT specialist for an opinion on immunotherapy in your city or locality.
