Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern. Taking multiple antibiotic courses and medicines like Bandy Plus within a short duration can significantly disturb the gut flora and bodyâs electrolyte balance. This often causes persistent weakness, anxiety, and loose motions even weeks later a common condition known as post-antibiotic gut imbalance or sometimes IBS-like symptoms.
1. Advices
Stop taking any further deworming or antibiotic medicines without medical supervision.
Continue probiotics (such as Econorm or Vizylac DS) once or twice daily for at least 2â3 weeks continuously.
Take small, frequent meals, rich in curd, banana, rice, and soups. Avoid spicy food, coffee, and processed items temporarily.
2. What to Monitor
Frequency of loose motions and your appetite pattern.
Any palpitations, dizziness, or new anxiety episodes.
Weight loss or persistent fatigue beyond 2â3 weeks.
3. Management
You may take an ORS solution or Electral water daily to restore salts.
If the weakness and anxiety are significant, short-term
vitamin supplementation (especially B-complex +
Vitamin D) is beneficial.
The gut usually takes 2â4 weeks to completely recover after heavy antibiotic exposure â anxiety often settles as the gut and nutrition normalize.
4. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
If diarrhea becomes frequent or watery.
If you feel persistent giddiness, palpitations, or panic episodes.
If you are unable to eat or drink adequately for more than 24 hours.
Every patientâs recovery timeline differs depending on body weight, hydration, and prior gut health. For complete and faster recovery, itâs best to discuss your exact medicines and dosages so that we can restore balance safely.
