Agomelatine and Liver Function Tests

2024-12-12 17:33:50
I am on Agomelatine, which my doctor says can be liver toxic. I need to do a liver function test (LFT) every 20 days, but it’s costly. If Agomelatine affects the liver, which specific chemicals (e.g., SGOT, SGPT, Total Bilirubin) should I monitor? Do I need the full LFT every time, or can I focus on just a couple of tests? Thanks for any advice!

Agomelatine can affect the liver, so monitor SGPT (ALT), SGOT (AST), and Total Bilirubin every 20 days. These tests detect liver injury early.
Next Steps
A full LFT is only needed if these values are abnormal or every 2–3 months for comprehensive assessment.
