Adenoid Grade 3 , Bilateral Glue Ear

My 3-year-old son is experiencing Grade III adenoid hypertrophy and bilateral glue ear, which are likely causing his recurrent colds and mouth breathing. Can this condition be treated with medication, or is surgery necessary? If surgery is required, are there any potential long-term issues, considering his young age?
