Hi. So the usual guidelines that we follow is to start slow and go low. For sertraline we usually start with 25-50 mg and then go to higher doses. This is done so that the body gets adjusted for some of the side effects and the medicine becomes tolerable for the body. Not for any other reason. If you can tolerate the higher doses also then fine.
In your case it has been only 8 days. Sometimes the anxiety worsens before it gets better during initial days. It takes at-least 2 weeks to see some effects of medications. The complete effects come only after 4-6 weeks. Hence you can wait for the effects to come in. If by 2 weeks there is less than 20% improvement then it might be worrying. But even 20% improvement in 2 weeks is good and indicative of further improvement in future. So keep on with your medication.
