Generally solids should be started after completion of 6 months Early you can start if baby shows interest in food, having good neck holding and can sit with support

Usually the first 6 months is exclusive breast feeding and complementary feeds started at 6 months and mainly depends on readiness of baby attained good head control, sits with support, opens mouth for food and swallows. Initially puréed foods can be offered with little amount of water. Initially 1-2 tablespoons to start with for a day and then gradually increase. To start with mashed rice dal with ghee, fruit purées can be offered. Spit ups are common and babies outgrow. If baby is active , feeding well, no excessive crying you need not worry. Burp the baby after feed keeping upright for 20-30 min. Do not give tummy time immediately after feeds.

Greetings Wait until your baby is around 6 months old and can sit reliably before starting solids. Begin with a smooth, thin purée once a day, keeping formula as the primary nutrition. Offer small sips of water (about 1–2 ounces daily) from a cup during meals. Spit-up while rolling on the tummy is normal due to abdominal pressure on the stomach. Drooling is also highly typical at five months and is usually a sign of teething. Always consult your pediatrician to evaluate physical readiness before starting your solid food journey.

Most babies are ready to start solids between 5 and 6 months, once they can hold their head steady and show interest in food. It sounds like your baby is close to that stage, and occasional spit-up while rolling or after feeds is common and not a concern on its own.
Next Steps
You can start with a single smooth puree once a day, and let your pediatrician guide the exact quantities, water intake, and how fast to move to thicker textures based on his weight gain.
Health Tips
Please see your pediatrician promptly if he starts vomiting forcefully, feeding poorly, or not gaining weight as expected.
