Dear sir/mam, I m 31 weeks 5 days pregnant. the day my 8th month started, i started feeling contractions which are mild and goes away. Contractions are more when i get up and walk after laying. I went to doctor she examined me and said os is well closed. Also there is no discharge till now and no spotting. my question is if os is closed properly then how much time it takes to open the cervix if contractions continues? is there any chance of preterm labour?

Are your contractions associated with pain?.If not then they may be Braxton Hicks contractions which are normal in pregnancy.Look for number of contractions and intensity. If they increase visit your doctor

The time taken for opening of the os of the cervix depends on the intensity, frequency and duration of the contractions. There is always a chance of pre term labour in any woman who is pregnant. So in your case I would not have ignored your symptoms just because the os is closed. I will start preemptive treatment.
