Hi there, A detailed medical and psychiatric history is always needed for every case. In addition, Mental Status Examination has its important place to come for a final diagnosis and management accordingly. As per your description, you have been diagnosed as Attention deficit disorder.and methylphenidate has been prescribed. Doses of methylphenidate has to be titrated as per requirement. It has a shorter half life and hence few hours levels in the body. Generally the immediate release preparations are described as twice daily doses. In addition, Methylphenidate modified release preparation is also available which has longer duration of action. Your problems may be because of the drug with shorter duration of action. Other drugs like Atomixetine. Is also used but that is be decided by your treating mental health professional.
Next Steps
Do discuss your problems with your mental health professional to get the maximum benefits from the drugs prescribed. Please don’t self medicate.
