A patch of dry scaly skin behind righear

I keep getting this patch of dry scaly skin behind my right ear, that I periodically scratch off. The skin falls off in dry flaky bits, but then its back to dry and scaly a couple of days later. Its partly behind the pinna and partly on the skin just outside the hairline, on the mastoid.
