Physically, there was and is nothing diagnostically wrong with me. But my obsessive thoughts never stop. Eventually I started getting anxiety attacks. Pure moments of chaos over something that does not exist. I really worked on myself, did a lot of online reading, quit social media, talked to friends/family, tried so many things to curb the anxiety. Nothing definitively helped. Apart from anxiety, I was now riddled with guilt, hopelessness, anger and sadness too. So I decided to give therapy a try.
I booked my consultation with Dr Seema. And I’m glad that I did. Because, it really gave me the perspective that I was missing and why my “coping strategies” weren’t working.
It is really important to reach out to mental health experts. No matter how much we think we know about our issues. Half the times we aren’t even looking in the right place for answers.
Dr Seema is very kind, helpful, and. gets to the root of the problem. She explains things in a way that is so logical to understand. She made me ask myself the right questions. She never judged how I felt, (although I’ve always judged myself). She listened to everything that I was trying to say. She patiently explained what I was feeling in a very detailed manner. And also gave me a starting point to work on. I have had one session with her so far.
I definitely felt anxiety creeping up to me many times even after the session. Dr Seema had told me that it could happen. But now, every time I was able to calm myself down. It never turned into an attack. Her tips have worked immensely and she equipped me to deal with my problems. I definitely recommend her .
Im looking forward to the next session with her. Lot of work yet to be done. But I’m convinced
And my honest advice to anyone confused about taking therapy - Please go for it. An expert’s perspective on our problems is unbiased. They’re able to look at things that sometimes we cannot . And they definitely have the expertise to help us get through it. Sometimes, no amount of mental health awareness, self help, coping strategies , talking to friends and family can work . So reach out, and let guide and enable you to help yourself .Read less
