Appreciation and Feedback for ILS Hospital Dumdum & Dr. Soumyarup Das

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Soumyarup Das (Consultant ENT and Head-Neck Surgeon) and the entire ILS Hospital Dumdum team for their extraordinary care and timely action during a medical emergency involving my 8-year-old son, Renesh Nandy, who is non-verbal and autistic.

On Diwali night, 20th October 2025, while having dinner, my son accidentally swallowed a foreign object that got impacted in his throat. He vomited multiple times and even had traces of blood. We immediately rushed him to the ILS Dumdum Emergency late at night.

Despite the festival night and the late hour, Dr. Soumyarup Das responded promptly and came to the hospital himself. Since my child was extremely restless due to his autism, an emergency endoscopic removal under general anesthesia was planned and successfully performed around 2 AM. The anesthetist and the emergency staff coordinated wonderfully under Dr. Das’s leadership, ensuring a safe and smooth procedure.

As parents of a special child who cannot express his pain, this situation was deeply distressing for us. But the compassion, confidence, and professional expertise of Dr. Soumyarup Das and the ILS team gave us immense relief and hope. The post-operative recovery was smooth, and within 24 hours, my son was able to eat and rest comfortably.

I am truly grateful to Dr. Soumyarup Das for his dedication and to the ILS Hospital Dumdum emergency and anesthesia teams for standing by us during those critical hours. On a festive night when getting medical help is difficult, their commitment to patient care truly reflected the real spirit of the medical profession.

My 15-year-old son Nialdri Roy Pratihar underwent treatment for ORAL SOL under Dr. Soumyarup Das at ILS Hospital, Dumdum. Dr. Das is very helpful and friendly to the patients. He explains the disease and treatment procedure clearly. After discussing with him, we had no fear or hesitation regarding the treatment and surgery.

My son was admitted to ILS Hospital at 7:30 AM on 14th August 2025, and the surgery was successfully completed around 11:30 AM with Dr. Das' surgical expertise. He was discharged from the hospital after a day's observation on 15th August 2025 and is now totally cured. Dr. Das also takes care of the patient even after discharge, helps patients get economical treatment, and always gives valuable suggestions.

Additionally, he provided me with valuable guidance to address the rejection of a claim by the health insurance company. His down-to-earth and friendly behaviour takes the stress off the patient's family as soon as one meets him. He is very approachable. We wish him all the best for his future and hope he continues his noble work of curing patients for years to come.

We had to rush to ILS Hospital Dumdum on an emergency basis on 8th July 2025 at around 11.00 p.m. , due to recurrent nose bleeding of my husband and as I could not find an ENT at other nearby hospitals, who could do posterior nasal packing which was the need of the hour. I was desperately searching for an ENT. This is when, through a relative, I came to know about Dr. Soumyarup Das ( Consultant ENT ), who was available that time at ILS Dumdum. My husband was very lucky to get admitted under Dr. Das at that odd hour. He immediately attended my husband in the emergency and did the relevant procedure to stop his nose bleeding, which then gradually began to subside. All the important blood tests and other tests were all done even after midnight. On talking to Dr. Das, I was quite relieved, as he explained to me how he was planning to proceed. The OT was fixed for 10th July 2025. The surgery started at around 11.00 a.m. ,under general anaesthesia and through nasal endoscopy. The surgery was finally successfully completed around 3.00 p.m. , with Dr. Das' surgical expertise . This case was, in a way, quite critical because the septal branch of the sphenopalatine artery had ruptured due to trauma to the nose.

My husband was discharged from the hospital after a day's observation, on 13th July 2025.

It took my husband almost another month to join his office. During the healing process, he was working from home and there were a few follow up sessions with Dr. Das, to assess the stage of his recovery .

His down-to-earth and friendly behaviour takes the stress off the patient's family, as soon as one meets him. He is very easy to approach and makes sure to clarify all doubts. I had been struggling with a blocked Eustachian tube and persistent fluid buildup in my ear, which severely affected my hearing and daily comfort. Despite consulting multiple doctors, no one could pinpoint the actual cause of my problem. It was frustrating and disheartening.

I had polyps and a grossly deviated septum which had to be corrected. This was the first surgery I ever went through naturally I was very scared and hesitant but Dr. Soumyarup Das explained the process and the aftercare extremely well and he made it seem so easy. He has been there when I had the most insignificant doubt and I am grateful to have undergone a surgery under him. 1 month post operation, I have had no complications whatsoever. And I guess it is safe to say that I have recovered well. Highly recommend

I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Soumyarup Das for performing the ET insufflation with right ear canal tympanostomy on my brother, a special child with Down syndrome. I stay in Sweden and came to Kolkata at my home for some other work, but I thought let me get it checked before I return because it was bothering me from long time now. In Sweden as the temperature is very low and It was getting difficult in my day-by-day life.

I visited another ENT specialist and got by CT Scan done for my nose. But I did not got the seriousness of it till that time. Than I got referred to Doctor Soumayarup Deb by another Cardialogist who also actually helped me to find out the solution.

When Doctor Soumayarup Das has done the endoscopy, it was very clear to me that there is a risk, there is a mere a little small passage inside my one nostril where air can pass due to multiple polyp. In another nostril it was septum and another polyps which also created a lot of problems. Doctor suggested me to do the surgery because it is the only solution.

I had a time constraints as I have to fly back to Sweden, so I took immediate decision to get it operated. Doctor helped me like anything, he has taken out his time from busy schedule and put his lot of effort to help me out. He personally ensured that I should not suffer a lot for this and helped me to get out of it.
