Right specialists type for Breast Implant?

  1. An experienced plastic surgeon
  2. A cosmetic surgeon who has performed several successful breast implant surgeries

Is Breast Implant safe?

Any surgery has its own risks, benefits, and safety concerns. If the breast implants are placed by an experienced surgeon, the complications and risks may decrease. However, women with silicone implants were at high risk of developing rare side effects than women with other types of implants. So, before choosing a type of implant, consult your doctor and discuss it.

Is Breast Implant painful?

After Breast Implant surgery, there may be pain and discomfort in the breast or chest region. These signs will be present for about a few days after the surgery. However, during the surgery, anesthesia will be given to numb the area or to sedate you so that no pain can be felt.

Are Breast Implants toxic?

Breast Implants are designed for temporary purposes to reshape or resize the breast. So, after a few years of breast implant surgery, the patient needed to remove the implants. If the implants are not removed or replaced on time, then they can cause severe health issues called breast implant illness [BII]. This is the condition in which the contents in the implants may leak into the body and can cause toxic effects.

Are Breast Implants heavy?

This is depending on the size of the implant you choose. Silicone breast implants are lighter than the saline implants and similar to natural breast tissue. This allows the implanted breast to feel more natural in women with small breast.

Are Breast Implants uncomfortable?

Breast implants may cause pain and discomfort, but this can be seen in women who have naturally large breasts. After the surgery, there may be severe pain with discomfort for up to a few weeks.

Are Breast Implants tax deductible?

Only in a few countries tax can be deductible for cosmetic and plastic surgeries like hair transplant, nose surgery, and breast augmentation etc. But in India, there is no data available whether the tax can be deductible or not. So please consult your doctor and have a discussion.

Are Breast Implants permanent?

No. Because breast implants are made for a temporary purpose and should be removed from the body after a few years. Otherwise, implants may rupture and can leak the contents into the chest region which may lead to loss of sensation in the nipples and may change the shape of the chest wall area.

Can Breast Implants cause cancer?

Most of the women who undergo breast implant has been diagnosed with breast-implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma [BIA-ALCL] which is an uncommon type of immune system cancer. BIA-ALCL is usually found in the area around the scar tissues and fluid of the implants. Removal of implants after early detection can cure BIA-ALCL.

Can Breast Implants look natural?

Depending on the type of breast implants chosen to place in the chest area will change the naturality of the breast. When compared with silicone and saline breast implants, silicone breast implants look more natural than saline implants. So, before choosing the right type of breast implant, discuss with your surgeon or doctor.

Can Breast Implants be removed?

If the breast implants are not removed after 5-10 years of placing them, then they may cause some serious health concerns like

  1. Severe chest pain
  2. Swelling in the breast region
  3. Risk of developing a rare type of immune system cancer, etc

In some cases, desired shape and size may not be achieved and, so the surgeon may remove the breast implants which are placed earlier. Thus breast implants can be removed depending on the condition of the patient.

Can Breast Implants cause infertility?

There is no based evidence that breast implants can affect fertility. However, some studies suggested that breast implants may cause other health-related problems.

Are Breast Implants under warranty?

Few companies provide lifetime warranty or 10-year warranty to anyone who is having breast implant surgery.

Can Breast Implants cause chest pain?

Normally after the Breast Implant surgery, there may be a pain the chest area with discomfort and can be normal after a few days. If the chest pain is present even after a few weeks of surgery then the implants needed to be removed.

Do Breast Implants need to be replaced?

If the desired shape and size of the breast is achieved after the breast implant without any complication then there is no need to be replaced with a new implant. But in some cases like uneven shape and size of the breast, any leakage in the silicone or saline implants, then the breast implants need to be replaced with new ones.
