Dr. Ameya Amonkar

Dr. Ameya Amonkar is a reputed Interventional Cardiologist who is one of the founders of Konkan Cardiac Centre, a centre that extends advanced and comprehensive cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic services in Ratnagiri district. Dr. Amonkar is also a "Specialist in Clinical Hypertension", a title bestowed to him by The American Society of Hypertension, one of the largest organization of researchers and health-care providers in the US, committed to preventing and treating hypertension and its consequences. The fact that Dr. Amonkar is the only cardiologist from Thane to have earned this honour, makes this achievement a noteworthy one.Dr. Amonkar completed his graduation from Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai followed by remarkable academic success in MD (Medicine) and DM (Cardiology) degrees at the prestigious Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai. Subsequently, Dr. Amonkar took up teaching responsibilities as Assistant Professor in Cardiology at KEM Hospital in Mumbai for a period of one year. He then commenced his clinical practice in Interventional Cardiology at Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai, for a period of 2 years. Dr Amonkar has been into active practice in the city of Thane since several yearsDr Amonkar believes that appropriate cardiovascular disease evaluation and management are the key factors in clinical cardiology. He therefore devotes ample time for outpatient evaluation and diagnostics like echocardiography at the centre. Dr. Amonkar is an expert in cardiac interventions including coronary angiographies, coronary angioplasties with stenting, complex angioplasties with the use of IVUS, FFR and rotational atherectomy, pacemakers and ICD implantation, balloon valvuloplasties and device closures for congenital heart defects. Well-trained in radial interventions (interventions through the wrist), Dr. Amonkar routinely performs both angiographies and angioplasties through the radial route leading to short procedure time and speedy recovery of the patient.
