Dr. Tamerabbas Saafan

Dr. Tamer Saafan is a renowned and highly qualified Consultant in General, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at the Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital & Medcare Hospital Sharjah. After completing his MBBS, he pursued his PhD and MD in Bariatric Surgery from Ain Shams University in Egypt. He completed his Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery from Taiwan, under the supervision of Prof Lee who is the inventor of the Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery. He also holds a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgeries & Robotic Surgeries and has completed two years of his Clinical Master's in surgical endoscopy from the esteemed Faculty of Medicine Strasbourg-France. He is a Fellow of the International College of Robotic Surgeons & MAS by IAO and a Member of The Royal College of Surgeons MRCS (Ireland)Dr. Saafan has more than two decades of experience and exposure to a wide spectrum of obesity surgeries. He spent his initial years working in Egypt, then Kuwait followed by the UAE. After relocating to the UAE, he worked as a Specialist in General Surgery at the Thumbay Hospital LLC. He then joined the Saudi German Hospital as a Consultant in General Surgery. He also did stints with the NMC Specialty Hospital and Al Taie Center for Laparoscopic and Obesity Surgery before joining Medcare. He actively participates in various international surgical and laparoscopic conferences, seminars & workshops and has presented many papers & articles which are testimony to his academic excellence.
