Dr. Gautam N. Allahbadia, MD is the Medical Director & Consultant IVF at Rotunda – The Center For Human Reproduction, Bandra, Mumbai as well as at the Medcare Fertility Centre, Jumeira, Dubai. He was previously the Medical Director at the Aster IVF & Women IVF Clinic, Al Mankhool, Dubai and the IVF Consultant & Head at the Fertility & Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, Dubai London Specialist Hospital, Jumeira, Dubai prior to taking up this assignment.Medical Professional with 27 years expertise in Assisted Reproductive Techniques - responsible for the growth & development of two independent IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) clinics in Mumbai. He has set-up a global training center for IVF professionals - both Medical & Para-Medical at Rotunda-CHR, Bandra. Dr. Allahbadia is a noted world authority on Ultrasound Guided Embryo Transfers and one of the pioneers in Minimal Stimulation IVF (IVF Lite) in South-East Asia. He has over 150 peer-reviewed publications to his credit and is on the Editorial Board of several International Journals. He is currently the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of India & the IVF Lite (Journal of Minimal Stimulation IVF). Throughout his career, Dr. Allahbadia has been instrumental in developing new Fertility-enhancing protocols and propagating the use of Ultrasound in Embryo Transfer procedures.Dr. Allahbadia has had quite a prolific career – he has authored over 150 scientific papers, 126 book chapters and 24 textbooks, the latest of which is a comprehensive text, entitled “Minimal Stimulation IVF”.Dr. Allahbadia was a lecturer for over 4 years at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College followed by a 12-year tenure at the University of Mumbai affiliated Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences before going full time into private practice. He is the recipient of over 25 prizes & fellowships in the field notable among which are the Canadian Young Scientist Fellowship Award for the year 1994, which allowed him to train in Infertility at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver and the National prize Dr. Kumud Tamaskar award for original research work in infertility in the year 1991. Dr. Allahbadia is the recipient of six research grants from the International College of Surgeons and the Medical Research Centre of Bombay Hospital Trust. He has been an invited guest speaker or faculty member at over 200 Congresses, Workshops and Scientific Meetings.He was awarded the prestigious Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst fellowship for the year 1996 to train in Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Germany. He has completed his training in IVF/ICSI at the University of Gottingen, Bielefeld IVF Center & the University of Munich. He was awarded the AOFOG-Young Gynecologist Award for the year 1998. He has been awarded the most prestigious FOGSI-CORION National Research award for best original research work in Infertility at the 42nd All India Obstetric & Gynecological Congress held at Hyderabad in December 1998.Dr. Allahbadia has recently been elected as the Vice President of the World Association of Reproductive Medicine (WARM) headquartered in Rome, Italy and was the Scientific Chairman of the 2nd World Congress of WARM, held in Rome in May 2004. He has organized several International Congresses in the subject and was recently nominated as “Mumbai’s Top Doc” for 2012 by a peer nomination process.
