On 26th December 2020, my younger daughter Anvi (age 07+ years) while playing at home fall down and got hit by a wooden corner of wardrobe. She had a serious injury on her earlobe. While doing first aid, we got to know that it was a deep through cut tearing apart her earlobe and the corner was went till the back side of ear. Immediately we had a call with our family physician, Dr. Amit Kulkarni and he referred us to Dr. Preetish Bhavsar, (specialist of plastic surgery, Lakshmi Hospital, Dombivli).
Within no time, we reached Lakshmi Hospital and Dr. Preetish was waiting for us. Doctor is waiting for patient. A rare gesture .... No??? Without wasting time he took a charge of Anvi and cleaned the wound, made proper dressing.
He called us for a discussion and made us understand the seriousness of the injury. He told us all the possibilities available and a scope of each option. He assured us that he will try to use all natural ways to get her ear intact. If it's not possible then he will go for plastic surgery. And this decision he will take in operation theatre once he open the dressing. It was too difficult for us to digest the fact that there are marginal chances for normal stitches. Looking at he age and the comfort and to ease the process he advised to go for general anesthesia.
Surgery was planned on 27th December 2020. Dr. Mrs. Nanda was too good to answer our queries related to general anaesthesia. Dr. Preetish and Dr. Nanda made a good rapport with Anvi to make her comfortable in this whole procedure.
Surgery went on for almost 2 hours. Post surgery Dr. Preetish told us about the procedure he carried to retain her ear. And we are pleased to hear that he could able to retain her broken earlobe naturally. That means we don't need to go for plastic surgery.
But his interest was purely in giving justice to his profession. He kept on telling us that he will try to restore her ear naturally. And with gods grace and skills, dedication, knowledge, experience of Dr. Preetish Bhavsar my daughter wont need undergo tedious process and time consuming process of plastic surgery.
On the day of first follow up, when Dr. Preetish opened bandage and showed us how skillfully he stitched the wound. There were almost 20 stitches on ear and 5 stitches behind ear. He was satisfied with the result and was happy that his stitches had made wonder in restoring her earlobe. We could see it on his face. He mentioned though he is a plastic surgeon he always try to restore/reshape body parts naturally and plastic surgery will always be his last option.
He called us on 10th January 2021 to remove stitches. We could see the amazing results of his skills. We could hardly make out the scars. And whatever minute scars were seen can be removed with the help of ointments. He assured us that scars will go off, it's a matter of time.
We were thinking, any surgeon could have done this for Anvi. But now when we saw the results, we can say, BOSS .... To do such things you need a skillful hands of a plastic surgeon.
