Dr. Deepak Kumar Bhasin

Prof Deepak Kumar Bhasin, MD, DM, FAMS, FASGE, AGAF, formerly Head of Department of Gastroenterology at PGIMER, Chandigarh and a renowned clinician and endoscopist with over three decades of experience in the field of gastroenterology ,liver diseases and therapeutic endoscopy. He worked as a faculty at PGIMER, Chandigarh for nearly three decades.He is an expert in the field of gastrointestinal and liver diseases (including hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease) and specialzes in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, biliary and pancreatic diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, acid peptic disease, celiac disease, diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal disorders. He has been on the committees for formulating national guidelines on abdominal tuberculosis, and task force for reflux esophagitis and inflammatory bowel disease. He has more than 400 research publications in both international and national journals. His research work has received awards at national and international levels. He has been visiting professor at various prestigious international universities in USA and Australia and is on editorial board of reputed international journals like gastrointestinal endoscopy. He is Editor of Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.He has been recipient of various national as well as international awards including prestigious Basanti Devi Amir Chand Award by Indian Council of Medical Research for significant contributions in Biomedical research. He has been an invited speaker at various national as well as international conferences, delivered many orations and his research work has been cited in the text books of gastroenterology.He has been President of Indian Society of Gastroenterology and President Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India. He has been awarded fellowships of American Gastroenterology Association (AGAF), American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) and Fellowship of National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS).
