Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

Use of this medicine is not recommended if the patient has taken MAO inhibitors like selegiline or rasagiline within the last 14 days. Their combination may increase the risk of severe adverse effects like drowsiness and blurred vision.

How it works
Dextromethorphan blocks the signals from the brain that trigger cough reflex and thus helps in suppressing the cough. Chlorpheniramine blocks the action of certain substances produced by the body which induce allergic reactions. Menthol causes a feeling of coolness and also reduces itching and pain. Hence, this combination is better effective in treating cough and nasal congestion.
