Description
Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL is a vasodilator (widens blood vessels) and is used orally in the treatment of angina. Angina is chest pain or discomfort caused when your heart muscle does not get enough oxygen-rich blood. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL treats angina by relaxing blood vessels and facilitates more blood and oxygen to reach your heart. It does not treat the actual cause of your chest pain, but it helps in relieving the symptoms of your condition. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL causes some common side effects like headache, drowsiness and dizziness. Hence, do not drive or do anything that requires mental alertness. Inform your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time. It is recommended that you take Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL with or without food. Take it at the same time every day to avoid any missed dose. The dose and duration will be determined by your doctor. Inform your doctor about any other health issues you have or if you are undergoing any medical treatment before taking Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Anaemia

Anaemia is a condition in which your blood does not have enough healthy red blood cells. Do not take Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL if you are anaemic or have low levels of haemoglobin (blood cells that carry oxygen throughout your body) in your blood. Large doses of this medicine may cause the haemoglobin to lose its capacity to carry oxygen. Thus, the presence of anaemia may worsen your condition.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve (a nerve responsible for good vision). It is caused by abnormally high pressure in your eye which can also lead to blindness. Glaucoma often has no symptoms other than slow vision loss. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL is not recommended for use if you have glaucoma as this medicine may also increase pressure inside your eyes. This can potentially lead to blindness.

Increased intracranial pressure

Intracranial pressure (ICP) is the pressure exerted by fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) inside your skull and on the brain tissue. This pressure change usually happens because of a head injury. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL is not recommended if you have a severe head injury in which the intracranial (within the skull) pressure is elevated, as this medicine may worsen your condition.

Medicine for erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction occurs when a man cannot get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL is not recommended for use if you are taking medicines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, as these medicines work in an opposite way.

Pericarditis

Pericarditis is a swelling and irritation in the thin, sac-like membrane (pericardium) that surrounds your heart. Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL is not recommended if you have pericarditis. This medicine may lower your cardiac output (the amount of blood your heart pumps each minute) which can further worsen your condition.

Driving or using heavy machinery

The use of Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL can cause drowsiness and affect your ability to drive vehicles or operate heavy machines. Always avoid such activities as long as you are taking this medicine.

Other diseases

If you have/had any other problems of heart, lung, thyroid, kidney, liver etc., inform your doctor before taking Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL. This medicine can interact with the existing problem which may worsen your condition.

Withdrawal symptoms

Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL should not be discontinued without consulting your doctor, as you can face withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, sweating, vomiting, depression, seizures and hallucinations

Chest pain due to other reasons

Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL should not be used to treat chest pain associated with other causes like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart muscles). The condition may worsen if you use this medicine.

Nitrate tolerance

If you take Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL regularly, the likelihood of developing tolerance will increase. You should maintain a gap of at least 12 hours between the intake of medicines containing nitrates.

Methemoglobinemia

Methemoglobinemia (MetHb) is a blood disorder in which an abnormal amount of methemoglobin is produced. Methemoglobin is a form of haemoglobin that carries oxygen throughout your body. Use of Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL may affect your red blood cells and cause changes in the haemoglobin resulting in hypoxia (low oxygen reaching the tissues). Symptoms are blue-coloured skin, headache, fatigue, lack of energy etc. Your doctor may discontinue the use of this medicine if you experience any such signs and symptoms.

Malnutrition

Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL should be avoided if you are malnourished (lack of sufficient nutrients in your body).

Missed Dose

If you have missed the dose of Vasovin Xl 2.5 MG Capsule XL at a given time, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

If you have intentionally or accidentally consumed more than the prescribed amount then you might feel headache, confusion, fever, change in the heartbeat, nausea, vomiting etc. Contact your doctor immediately for initiating overdose treatment.
