Description
Vasograin Tablet is a medicine that consists of Ergotamine, Caffeine, Paracetamol and Prochlorperazine. It is used for the treatment of migraine headaches (a throbbing pain mostly on one side of the head). This medicine also helps to relieve the symptoms such as nausea and vomiting of migraine headaches. Vasograin Tablet works by blocking the release of certain chemicals that cause pain and swelling. It also blocks certain substances in the brain that trigger nausea or vomiting during migraine headaches. Vasograin Tablet may cause side effects like dryness of mouth, constipation, difficulty while urinating, sudden decrease in blood pressure, etc. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist for a long time. Vasograin Tablet may cause drowsiness. Hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking the medicine. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Vasograin Tablet should be taken only if it is prescribed by your doctor. This medicine should be taken with food to avoid gastric irritation. The dosage and duration of the treatment will be decided by your doctor based on the severity of your condition and other underlying problems. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Vasograin Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age. Heart diseases

Vasograin Tablet should be used with caution if you have heart or heart valve problems as it may increase your blood pressure and affect other functions of your heart. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your heart function while on treatment with this medicine. Also, he may adjust the dose of this medicine or prescribe a suitable alternative based on your condition.

Driving or operating machines

Vasograin Tablet may cause sleepiness or dizziness. Hence, avoid driving vehicles and operating heavy machines after taking this medicine.

Use in children

Vasograin Tablet is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18 years as the safety and efficacy data is not available.

Missed Dose

How it works
Ergotamine works by preventing blood vessels in the head from expanding and causing headaches. Caffeine increases the absorption of ergotamine and paracetamol and further narrows the widened blood vessels and reduces the pain. Paracetamol works by blocking the release of certain chemicals that are responsible for causing pain, swelling and fever. Prochlorperazine works by binding to certain receptors and blocks the release of chemical substances that cause nausea and vomiting.
