Description

Udenafil relaxes the smooth muscles present in the wall of blood vessels and helps in increasing the flow of blood in certain specific areas of the body. It is used for the treatment of erection dysfunction in adults.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who are concomitantly taking a medicine named Riociguat (popular trade name is Adempas) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a previous episode of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

General warnings

Other medicines

Udenafil may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Hypotension

Use of this medicine may cause a mild and short-lasting decrease in blood pressure. Caution is advised if you are also taking any medication to correct high blood pressure levels since coadministration of these medicines may lower the blood pressure levels too much. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Your doctor will suggest appropriate dose adjustments to avoid or minimize the interaction between the medicines. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Deformation of penis

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having a physical deformity of the penis which may be due to angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie's disease. The risk of permanent loss of sexual potency is significantly high in such cases. An alternative treatment option should be considered based on the clinical condition.

Prolonged and painful erection

This medicine should be used with caution if you have had a painful erection lasting for more than 4 hours in the past due to the increased risk of recurrence. The painful erection may be due to an underlying condition like sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, etc. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. An alternative treatment option may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Use in Children

This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Liver/kidney disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having an impairment of normal liver/kidney function. Use of this medicine is not recommended if the impairment is severe.
