Description
Triplixam Tablet is a medicine that consists of Perindopril, Indapamide, and Amlodipine. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making it easier for the heart to pump blood. It also removes extra fluid and electrolytes in your body. This helps in reducing your blood pressure and preventing heart attack and stroke. Triplixam Tablet has some side effects like headache, diarrhoea, vertigo, sleepiness, etc. These side effects are mild and may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they bother you. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Triplixam Tablet should be taken before meals or as prescribed by your doctor. Take this medicine every day at the same time for better results. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Do not discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your health condition. Triplixam Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have any kidney, liver or heart problems before taking this medicine. This medicine is not recommended if you are pregnant as it might harm your foetus, especially if taken during the second and third trimesters. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

Angioedema

Angioedema is an allergic reaction to any food, medicine or pollen in which there is a painless swelling under the skin. Symptoms of angioedema are swelling of the face, extremities, eyes, lips, or tongue, as well as trouble swallowing or breathing. Triplixam Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a history of angioedema as it may worsen your condition.

Aliskiren

Aliskiren is a medicine used to reduce high blood pressure. Do not use Triplixam Tablet if you are taking aliskiren. Concomitant use of these medicines may lead to serious side effects such as low blood pressure, and high potassium levels in your blood. The risk is higher if you have kidney problems or diabetes (high blood sugar level).

Sacubitril

Sacubitril is a medicine used in the treatment of chronic heart failure (a condition in which the heart does not pump the required levels of blood). Do not take Triplixam Tablet within 36 hours before or after taking a medicine that contains sacubitril as it may lead to angioedema (swelling of the face, eye, lips, etc.).

Anuria

Anuria is a condition where your kidneys are unable to produce urine. Triplixam Tablet is not recommended for use if you have such a condition as it may worsen your health.

Severe liver disease

Triplixam Tablet is not recommended for use if you have severe liver problems as it may worsen your condition.

Bilateral renal artery stenosis

Bilateral renal artery stenosis is a condition in which the blood vessels carrying blood to your kidneys are narrowed. This leads to insufficient blood flow to your kidney for normal functioning. Triplixam Tablet is not recommended for use if you have severe kidney problems.

General warnings

Hypotension

Hypotension is a decrease in blood pressure. Triplixam Tablet may cause hypotension, especially when used in combination with other medicines used to reduce high blood pressure and/or if you have low sodium levels in your blood. Your doctor may monitor your blood pressure regularly while on treatment with this medicine.

Volume and electrolyte depletion

Triplixam Tablet may alter your blood volume and electrolyte levels. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance (imbalance between acidity and alkalinity in your body). This risk is especially higher if you have kidney or liver problems. Consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

Driving and operating machines

Triplixam Tablet may affect your driving ability as it can cause dizziness or weakness due to low blood pressure. After taking this medication, avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness such as driving vehicles or operating machines.

Liver disease

Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you have liver problems due to the increased risk of liver failure. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your liver function while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Lupus Erythematosus

Lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease (the immune system attacks its own tissues) that causes swelling, pain, and tissue damage in the affected organs. Use Triplixam Tablet with caution as it may worsen your health and activate the symptoms of lupus erythematosus such as joint pain, rash, fever, and fatigue.

Surgery and anesthesia

Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you are about to undergo surgery as it may increase the risk of very low blood pressure when you receive anaesthesia. Before undergoing any surgery, inform your doctor/surgeon about all your ongoing medicines. Your doctor may suggest discontinuation of this medicine before surgery or prescribe a suitable alternative based on your condition.

Kidney diseases

Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you have kidney problems. This medicine is excreted through the kidney. An impaired kidney can not clear it completely which leads to its accumulation and may cause serious side effects.

Missed Dose

Do not skip any dose of Triplixam Tablet. In case you missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose with Triplixam Tablet.

Asthma

Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you have bronchial asthma (a condition in which air passage is swollen and narrowed that causes breathing difficulty) as it may increase the risk of sensitivity reactions such as breathing difficulty, tightening of your chest, etc.

Diabetes

Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you have Diabetes (increased blood sugar level) as it may alter your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your blood sugar levels while on treatment with this medicine.

Bone marrow suppression

Bone marrow suppression is a condition in which your bone marrow (a substance found in the bone that produces blood cells) activity is reduced which further leads to a decrease in blood cell count. Use Triplixam Tablet with caution if you have such condition as it may worsen your condition.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a condition in which your heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. If Triplixam Tablet is taken in such conditions it may lead to serious side effects on your kidney, which may lead to oliguria (low urine output) and kidney failure. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your kidney and heart functions while on treatment with this medicine.

Haemodaialysis

Haemodialysis is a treatment procedure in which a machine is used to filter the waste from your blood when the kidney fails to do so. If you are undergoing hemodialysis, use Triplixam Tablet with caution as it may lead to anaphylactic reactions (serious allergic skin reactions).

Hyperkalaemia

Hyperkalaemia is a condition where your blood potassium levels are high. Use Triplixam Tablet with caution as it may further increase the potassium levels in your blood. This may cause serious side effects like irregular heartbeats. Report any unusual symptoms to your doctor immediately. Avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (potassium-sparing diuretics and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with Triplixam Tablet as grapefruit juice can increase the level of this medicine in your blood. This could lead to excessive lowering of blood pressure and may increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness, headache, swelling of hands and feet, etc.
