Description
Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is a combination of Travoprost and Timolol. It is used to treat eye conditions such as ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma that cause increased pressure inside the eyes. This medicine works by reducing the fluid pressure inside the eyes. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops shows side effects such as irritation, itching, discomfort, or redness in the eyes. It may also cause blurred vision immediately after instilling the medicine in your eyes. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines until your vision is clear. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops should be used regularly, as directed by your doctor, to get the most benefit from it. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor. If you wear contact lenses, make sure you remove them before instilling the medication in your eyes and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you are using any other medicines to your eyes or have any other eye problems. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Respiratory diseases

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is not recommended for use if you have respiratory conditions such as asthma (narrowing of the airways) or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (lung conditions that cause blockage of airflow leading to breathing-related problems). This medicine may get absorbed into the blood and cause bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the airways). Hence, it may worsen your condition.

Heart diseases

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is not recommended for use if you have heart conditions such as sinus bradycardia (slow heartbeat), sick sinus syndrome (inability to create an adequate heart rate by your heart's natural pacemaker), second or third-degree atrioventricular block (delay or interruption in the transmission of electrical impulses that controls your heartbeat), overt cardiac failure (a condition that occurs when your heart is not able to pump a sufficient amount of blood, with obvious symptoms), or cardiogenic shock (an emergency condition where your heart suddenly cannot pump enough blood throughout your body). This medicine is not recommended for use in such conditions as it may further worsen your condition.

General warnings

Bacterial keratitis

If Travoprostin-T Eye Drops get contaminated by bacteria on multiple-use, it can cause bacterial keratitis (an infection of the cornea, the clear front surface of the eyes). Hence, avoid touching the tip of the dropper against your eye or other surfaces. Close the cover of the bottle after administration to keep it clean and free from contamination.

Contact lens

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is not recommended for use if you are wearing contact lenses. Remove the contact lenses prior to administration of the eye drops and wait for 15 minutes before putting them back in the eyes.

Use in children

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Driving or operating machines

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops may cause temporary blurring of vision or visual disturbances after instilling the eye drops. If you experience such symptoms, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines.

Eyelash changes and pigmentation

Travoprostin-T Eye Drops may gradually cause changes in the eyelashes such as an increase in the length, thickness, pigmentation, and/or the number of lashes or hairs. It may also cause misdirected growth of eyelashes. This medicine may also change the eye colour by increasing the amount of brown pigment in the iris (coloured part of the eye).

Missed Dose

If you forget to instill the dose of Travoprostin-T Eye Drops at a given time, instill it in your eyes as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

As Travoprostin-T Eye Drops is intended for external use, the likelihood of side effects due to an overdose is low. However, do not administer more than the prescribed dose.

Macular oedema

Macular oedema refers to a build-up of fluid in the macula, an area in the centre of the retina responsible for giving a clear vision. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops should be used with caution if you have macular oedema as it may damage your vision.

Uveitis

Uveitis refers to swelling inside your eyes. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops may cause uveitis. Hence, this medicine should be used with caution if you have active intraocular inflammation (swelling inside your eyes).

Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland (a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck) produces excess thyroid hormones. Travoprostin-T Eye Drops should be used with caution if you have or are suspected of having hyperthyroidism. If you have hyperthyroidism, sudden discontinuation of this medicine may worsen your condition or lead to a thyroid storm (a serious complication of hyperthyroidism characterised by high fever, fast and irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, etc.). Your doctor may suggest the discontinuation of this medicine gradually over a period of one to two weeks.

Instill Travoprostin-T Eye Drops in your eyes as directed by your doctor. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper against your eye or other surfaces. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip. Always close the cover of the bottle after use to keep it clean and free from contamination. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before instilling other medications in the same eye. Never use Travoprostin-T Eye Drops if the seal is broken before you use it for the first time.
