Description
Tobamist 300 mg Respules is an antibiotic used for the management of cystic fibrosis (a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs but also causes severe damage to the digestive systems) in patients with pneumonia (Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections). It is recommended for use in adults and children aged 6 years and above.

General warnings

Drug resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of developing bacteria that are drug-resistant.

Hearing loss

This medicine may cause hearing loss and should be used with extreme caution in patients with auditory impairment. Close monitoring of hearing function is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Myasthenia gravis

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Any unusual symptoms should be reported to the doctor on priority. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 6 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Bronchospasm

This medicine may cause bronchospasm (constriction of the bronchial muscles) in some patients upon therapy. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with neuromuscular disorders such as Parkinson's syndrome or myasthenia gravis since it may worsen the condition of the patient. Patients should be closely monitored for any signs of respiratory paralysis, and if any signs occur, the therapy should be discontinued and appropriate corrective measures should be taken immediately.
