Description
Tinidazole 500 MG Capsule is an antiprotozoal which helps in treating infections in the stomach, genital areas. Take this medicine with food to minimize gastric irritation. Do not take this medicine with alcohol. Take this medicine only if it is necessary to reduce the development of resistance.

Allergy

Not recommended in patients with known allergy to Tinidazole 500 MG Capsule or other nitroimidazoles.
Warnings for special population

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy. It can be used in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Breast-feeding

This medicine is known to excreted through the breastmilk. The child should not breastfeed while taking this medicine and for at least 3 days after the last dose.
General warnings

Blood cell count

This medicine may lower the blood cell count and may lead to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. Close monitoring of WBC count, platelets is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear.

Neurologic Toxicity

This medicine may cause neurological effects like convulsions and peripheral neuropathy. Inform the doctor if you have any neurological problems. Any symptoms of convulsions, tingling or burning sensation of hands and feet should be reported to the doctor.

Impaired liver function

This medicine may cause liver injury. The baseline of liver enzymes should be obtained before initiating the therapy. Any signs of elevation in the liver enzymes should be informed to the doctor. Discontinue the treatment until the levels reach to normal.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Tinidazole 500 MG Capsule, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

Interaction with Alcohol

Description

Use of alcohol or products containing alcohol during nitroimidazole therapy may result in a disulfiram-like reaction in some patients. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) similar to disulfiram.

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended in patients with Tinidazole 500 MG Capsule. Any symptoms of the fast heartbeat, warmth, headache, and breathing difficulty should be reported to the doctor.
