Description
Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet is a combination of Telmisartan and Atorvastatin. This medicine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure with high cholesterol levels. It also reduces bad cholesterol levels in your body. Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet shows some side effects such as headache, nausea, constipation, indigestion, etc. This medicine may also cause sleepiness and dizziness. Thus, do not drive or perform any task that requires mental attention until you know how the medicine affects you. Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet also increases the level of potassium in your blood, thus it is recommended to avoid potassium-rich food (banana, oranges, raisins, etc) or supplements. Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food at any time of day. However, it is better to take it at the same time every day to avoid any missed dose. Even if you are feeling fine, do not discontinue this medication on your own because high blood pressure usually does not show symptoms and abrupt discontinuation may worsen your condition. Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age due to the lack of safety and efficacy of its use. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, heart problems, or other medical conditions. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

Aliskiren

Aliskiren is also used to reduce high blood pressure. Taking Aliskiren and Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet together is not recommended due to the increased risk of side effects such as kidney problems, low blood pressure, and high potassium levels in your blood. This risk is especially higher if you have diabetes (high blood glucose level) and kidney problems.

Severe liver disease

Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet is not recommended if you have been reported with any abnormality in your liver function tests. This medicine is broken down in your liver and pre-existing liver problems can lead to the accumulation of this medicine causing liver damage.

General warnings

Cognitive impairment

Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet may cause cognitive impairment. It is a condition in which there is memory loss, forgetfulness, confusion, etc. However, these side effects are reversible and usually subside once the medicine is discontinued.

Rhabdomyolysis

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition in which your muscle tissue breaks down and releases protein into your blood. Take Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet with caution as it may lead to such conditions. Report any unusual symptoms such as tiredness and weakness to your doctor immediately.

Hypotension

Take Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet with caution as it can cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure). This is common if you have volume depletion (reduction in extracellular fluid volume that occurs due to salt and fluid loss) or if you are taking high dose diuretics (medicines that increases urine production). It is recommended to correct the conditions before initiating treatment with this medicine.

Hyperkalemia

Take Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet with caution because it may cause hyperkalemia (increase in potassium levels in your blood). It is recommended to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age because the safety and efficacy of its use are not clinically established.

Driving and operating machines

Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is recommended that you do not perform any activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you missed a dose of Tetan Av (40/10 mg) Tablet at a given time, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
