Description
Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet is a combination of Ramipril and Telmisartan. This medicine is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). By lowering your blood pressure, this medicine also reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke (damage to the brain due to interrupted blood flow). Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet widens and relaxes your blood vessels, thus promotes easy blood flow. Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet shows side effects like stuffy nose, back pain, diarrhoea, headache, indigestion, etc. Most of these side effects are temporary and resolve on their own. This medicine also increases the level of potassium in your blood. Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food at any time of day. However, it is better to take it at the same time every day to avoid any missed dose. Even if you are feeling fine, it is advisable not to discontinue this medication on your own. Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age due to the lack of safety and efficacy of its use. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, heart problems, or other medical conditions. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

It is recommended to avoid Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek an immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.

Aliskiren

Aliskiren is also used to reduce high blood pressure. Coadministration of Aliskiren and Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet is not recommended due to the increased risk of side effects such as kidney problems, low blood pressure, and high potassium levels in your blood. This risk is especially higher if you have diabetes (high blood glucose level) and kidney problems.

Severe liver disease

Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet is mainly broken down in your liver. Hence, this medicine is not recommended if you have severe liver impairment.

General warnings

Hypotension

Take Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet with caution as it can cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure). This is common if you have volume depletion (reduction in extracellular fluid volume that occurs due to salt and fluid loss) or if you are taking high dose diuretics (medicines that increases urine production). It is recommended to correct the conditions before initiating treatment with this medicine.

Hyperkalemia

Take Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet with caution because it may cause hyperkalemia (increase in potassium levels in your blood). It is recommended to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age because the safety and efficacy of its use are not clinically established.

Driving and operating machines

Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is recommended that you do not perform any activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you missed a dose of Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet at a given time, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Teram (5/40 mg) Tablet, seek immediate medical guidance.
