Sumatriptan works by constricting the dilated blood vessels in the brain. It also helps in stopping the pain signals from being sent to the brain and blocking the release of natural substances which cause pain. Naproxen works by blocking the formation of chemical substances in the body which cause pain. Their combination is thus effective in relieving the symptoms of an acute migraine attack.
