Sulbact 500/250 mg Injection is a combination medicine which may be used to treat bacterial infections in lungs, heart, brain, genital areas, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria. It should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases due to the increased risk of adverse effects.

Meningitis

Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea

Do not take if you experience severe diarrhea after receiving this medicine. This is because the antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora in the large intestine, which promotes the growth of bacteria called clostridium difficile.

Mononucleosis

This medicine is likely to cause rashes and bumps on the skin if the patient is suffering from Mononucleosis. Usage of Sulbact 500/250 mg Injection is not recommended in such cases.

Drug Resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and may even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

How it works
Ampicillin interferes with the bacterial cell wall formation and stops the growth of bacteria. Sulbactam inhibits some chemicals produced by the bacteria and makes the bacteria more sensitive to ampicillin activity.
