Description
Starbact GM Cream is a medicine with the combination of clobetasol, gentamycin, miconazole and zinc sulphate. It is used for the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections of the skin. It works by killing or stopping the growth of microorganisms that causes infection. It provides relief from symptoms of infection like swelling, redness etc. Starbact GM Cream causes some side effects which include itching, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the site of application. Seek medical help if you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction like rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath. Your doctor may perform a patch test before starting treatment with this cream as it can cause skin allergy. Starbact GM Cream can be applied as thin layer on the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. This cream is meant for external use only. Avoid direct contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, or other smooth muscles, in case of accidental contact wash immediately with water. Starbact GM Cream is not recommended for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. It is recommended to take this antibiotic cream only with the doctor's prescription. Complete the entire treatment course to get its maximum benefits and to prevent the development of bacterial resistance. It may take several days to weeks to clear up your symptom, but you should keep using this medicine regularly for better results. Antibiotic resistance

Starbact GM Cream should be used for the complete prescribed course of duration even if your symptoms gets better after using few doses. In case of abrupt discontinuation, the infection may recur and the fungi may get less sensitive to the medicine which is called drug resistance.

Chronic application

Chronic and long-term application of this medicine may cause thinning of skin at the site of application and skin may become highly prone to infections.

Use in children

Starbact GM Cream is not recommended to use this medicine in children below 12 years of age as the safety and efficacy for this age group is not clinically established.

Other medicines

As Starbact GM Cream may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines before beginning the treatment.

Cushing's syndrome

Starbact GM Cream may cause hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression and causes Cushing's syndrome (high cortisol levels) when you use high doses for a prolonged period. Any symptoms like muscle weakness, swelling of the face should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Missed Dose

Apply the missed dose of Starbact GM Cream as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

An overdose of Starbact GM Cream is not likely to cause symptoms. However, ingestion of this medicine may cause harm and immediate medical intervention may be required.

How it works
It is a combination of Clobetasol, Miconazole, Gentamycin and Zinc sulfate: Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers which causes redness, swelling and itching of the skin. Miconazole is an antifungal that prevents fungi from building their cell walls which are necessary for their survival. Gentamycin is an antibiotic that blocks the process of protein formation that is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Zinc sulfate mainly smoothens the skin and helps in the healing process.
