Description

Sodium hyaluronate, the principal constituent of Sodium Hyaluronate, is used in various dosage forms for different indications. The injection form of this medicine is used to relieve pain in patients suffering from osteoarthritis who have failed to achieve adequate relief from simple painkillers or from exercise and physical therapy. It is also used during plastic surgery to reduce wrinkles or folds on the face and for lip enhancements in adults over the age of 21. The topical form of this medicine is used to treat skin conditions such as bed sores, diabetic foot ulcers, burn wounds, surgical incisions, dry or scaly skin, cuts, skin irritations, etc. The ophthalmic form of this medicine is used to prevent eye dryness. It may also be used during eye surgeries to protect eye tissues from mechanical stress.

General warnings

Inflammation

This medicine may cause inflammation (swelling, redness, etc.) in the injected knee in some patients. If the symptoms are severe, contact your doctor immediately for further instructions. To prevent these symptoms and to treat mild to moderate symptoms, your doctor may advise you to rest your knee or apply ice for a short time after the injection.

Strenuous activities

You are recommended to avoid strenuous activities such as jogging, tennis, heavy lifting, standing on your feet for a long time, etc. for at least 48 hours after receiving an injection in the knee.

Joint effusion

Patients with joint effusion should be treated first before receiving this medicine since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Missed Dose

Injection: Since this medicine is administered by a qualified healthcare professional in the clinical/hospital setting, the likelihood of missing a dose is very low. If you miss a scheduled appointment for a dose of this medicine, contact your doctor for further instructions. Eye drops/Topical forms: Use/apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Injection: Since this medicine is administered in the hospital setting by a qualified healthcare professional, the likelihood of an overdose is very low. However, emergency medical treatment will be initiated by the doctor if an overdose is suspected.
