Description
Selomax 25/2.5 mg Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure and ischemic heart disease. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect.

Allergy

Heart diseases

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from heart diseases such as a heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, sick sinus syndrome (without a permanent pacemaker in place), sinus bradycardia, etc. since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Circulatory disorders

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from blood circulation disorders since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women except in life-threatening conditions. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.

Heart Failure

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from heart diseases due to the increased risk of heart failure. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended for such patients. Abrupt withdrawal

Abrupt withdrawal of this medicine in patients with ischemic heart diseases may worsen the symptoms of such patients, especially after a prolonged use. The dose of this medicine should be reduced gradually over a period of 1 to 2 weeks before withdrawing therapy.

Major surgery

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients undergoing a major surgery due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended for such patients. An appropriate anesthetic agent should be chosen to minimize the interaction as well as side effects.

Pheochromocytoma

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients with pheochromocytoma due to the increased risk of a very high blood pressure. Appropriate corrective measures or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Lung diseases

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from obstructive lung diseases such as bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease since it may worsen the patient's condition. Diabetes

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from diabetes due to the increased risk of very low blood sugar levels. Close monitoring of blood sugar levels is recommended for such patients. How it works
Amlodipine relaxes the heart muscles and the blood vessels. Metoprolol relaxes the blood vessels and reduces the heart rate, promoting a smooth flow of the blood. Their combination is thus effective in reducing the blood pressure and the strain on the heart.
