Description
Salbair-B Transhaler is a combination of Levosalbutamol and Beclomethasone. It is used to relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, breathing difficulty, coughing, etc., caused by asthma. It works by relaxing and widening the muscles in your airways. Salbair-B Transhaler may cause some side effects like sore throat, cough, hoarse voice, headache, fungal infection of the mouth and throat, etc. Inform your doctor if these side effects become severe or persist. Salbair-B Transhaler should be used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. For the ease of remembering, use it around the same time every day. Even if you see an improvement in your condition, do not stop taking it. If you discontinue this medicine early, your symptoms may recur or worsen. Salbair-B Transhaler should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks. Consult your doctor to understand which medications should be used if you have a sudden asthma attack. Salbair-B Transhaler is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have liver or heart problems or other medical conditions before starting the treatment. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.

Allergy

General warnings

Growth Retardation

Salbair-B Transhaler may impair growth and development in some children, especially if used in high doses for a long time. Therefore, your child's doctor may suggest that you regularly monitor the height of your child during treatment with this medicine. Consult your child's doctor if you have any concerns.

Candida infection

Use of Salbair-B Transhaler for an extended time may cause oropharyngeal candidiasis (a fungal infection of the mouth and throat with symptoms such as white patches on the inner cheeks, tongue, or roof of the mouth, bad breath, dryness, pain while eating or swallowing, etc.). Rinse your mouth with water after inhalation to reduce the risk of oropharyngeal candidiasis.

Use in children

Salbair-B Transhaler is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Other medicines

Salbair-B Transhaler may interact with other medicines and cause side effects. Hence, inform your doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Excessive use

Salbair-B Transhaler should be used in the prescribed quantities for the recommended duration only. Excessive use of this medicine may cause side effects and may lead to a life-threatening condition.

Hypokalaemia

Salbair-B Transhaler may suppress the immune response (body's defense against infections) and mask the symptoms of infection. Hence, it may increase the risk of infection or worsen any current infections.

Hyperadrenocorticism

Hyperadrenocorticism is a condition characterised by high levels of cortisol hormone in the blood. Rarely, the use of Salbair-B Transhaler in high doses or for a prolonged time may cause or worsen hyperadrenocorticism.

Ocular herpes infection

Ocular herpes simplex is an eye infection caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV) which often leads to blindness. Salbair-B Transhaler may increase the risk of damage or perforation in the cornea (protective outer layer of your eyes) if you have ocular herpes simplex.

Impaired liver function

Use Salbair-B Transhaler with caution if you have liver problems. This medicine is broken down in your liver. Impaired liver function may increase the accumulation of this medicine in your body which may damage your liver further. Your doctor may suggest tests to regularly monitor your liver function and recommended dose adjustments based on your clinical condition.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak. Long-term use of Salbair-B Transhaler may cause a decrease in bone density (amount of minerals in the bones) which may lead to bone fracture. Hence, inform your doctor if you have any bone-related problems. Your doctor may prescribe an alternative medicine or recommend an appropriate dose based on your clinical condition.

Cardiovascular disease

Salbair-B Transhaler should be used with caution if you have heart and blood vessel problems as it may affect your heart rate, blood pressure, heart rhythm, etc., and lead to further complications. Consult your doctor before beginning treatment with this medicine.
