Saflutan Eye Drops is a prostaglandin analog that is used for the treatment of increased fluid pressure inside the eye (intraocular hypertension) and open-angle glaucoma, a progressive condition that may eventually lead to vision loss. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

General warnings

Eyelash changes and pigmentation

The use of this medicine may cause some changes in eyelashes such as an increased length, thickness, pigmentation, the number of lashes or hairs, and misdirected growth of eyelashes. This medicine may also change the eye color by increasing the amount of brown pigment in the iris.

Intraocular inflammation

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an active intraocular inflammation due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Macular edema

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with macular edema due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Bacterial keratitis

If the ophthalmic solution of this medicine is contaminated by bacteria, it can lead to an infection of the cornea (bacterial keratitis). Patients are advised to take all hygienic precautions to ensure that the medicine is not contaminated.

Contact lens

If you are wearing soft contact lenses in the eyes, it should be removed prior to administration of the eye drops and can be reinserted 15 minutes post-administration.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Aphakic patients

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from aphakia (absence of lens) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Driving or operating machines

This medicine may cause blurred vision in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience this symptom during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
