Description
Roxid-M Tablet is a combination of Roxithromycin and Ambroxol. It is used in the treatment of lung infections. Roxithromycin works by stopping the growth of bacteria and helps treat the infection. Ambroxol works by loosening the excess mucus that may be produced in lung infections and makes it easier to cough out. Roxid-M Tablet may cause common side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen. Roxid-M Tablet should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. It is recommended to take this medicine on an empty stomach, at least 15 minutes before food or three hours after food for better absorption. Roxid-M Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have pre-existing kidney, liver or heart problems before beginning treatment with this medicine. Close evaluation with respect to your current medicines is necessary to avoid any undesired side effects. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Allergy

General warnings

Antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance occurs when the bacteria develop the ability to defeat the effects of the medicine that was intended to kill them. Hence, to avoid such resistance, you should always complete the entire course of treatment with Roxid-M Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Other medicines

Roxid-M Tablet may interact with other medicines and may cause undesired side effects. Inform your doctor about your current medicines including any herbs or supplements before taking this medicine.

Diarrhoea

Roxid-M Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe watery or bloody diarrhoea. Consult your doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or Operating machines

Roxid-M Tablet may cause dizziness. If you experience any symptoms that may affect your mental alertness, do not drive vehicles or operate machines.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Roxid-M Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Roxid-M Tablet is eliminated by kidneys and should be used with caution if you have pre-existing kidney problems due to the increased risk of side effects, resulting from the accumulation of this medicine in your body. Your kidney function needs to be closely monitored and dose adjustments may be required based on your clinical condition.

Liver Disease

Roxid-M Tablet is metabolized and broken down by the liver and should be used with caution if you have pre-existing liver problems (mild to moderate) due to the increased risk of side effects, resulting from the accumulation of this medicine in your body. Your liver function needs to be closely monitored and dose adjustments may be required based on your clinical condition.

Myasthenia Gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a condition that causes weakness in your skeletal muscles (the muscles your body uses for movement). Symptoms may include weakness in your arms and legs, visual disturbances, impaired speech, difficulty in swallowing, etc. Roxid-M Tablet should be used with caution if you have myasthenia gravis due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.
