Rivaroxaban

Description

Rivaroxaban is an anticoagulant that is used to treat and prevent blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and atrial fibrillation (AFib). Close monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during treatment with this medicine. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

Use in pediatrics

Surgery or Operations

This medicine should be stopped at least 24 hours prior to undergoing any surgical procedure. It should be restarted as soon as hemodynamic stability is established following the surgical procedure. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required for some patients both during the procedure and after the procedure based on the clinical condition.

Missed Dose

The missed dose of this medicine should be taken as soon as possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it is already time for your next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Active bleeding disorder

Liver Disease

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver function impairment and in patients with any liver disease associated with coagulopathy due to the increased risk of excessive bleeding. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor's supervision.

Renal Dysfunction

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with kidney diseases due to the increased risk of excessive bleeding. Close monitoring of kidney function is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Valvular Heart Disease

The use of this medicine is not recommended in patients with prosthetic heart valves since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established in such patients. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Unstable blood pressure
