Description
Resitan AMH Tablet is a combination of Amlodipine, Losartan and Hydrochlorthiazide. This medicine is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It relaxes your blood vessels, heart muscles and decreases your blood pressure. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from your body through urine. Resitan AMH Tablet may cause some side effects like cough, stomach pain, diarrhoea, nausea, etc. This medicine may also cause dizziness, drowsiness or confusion. Do not perform any work that requires mental focus if you feel dizzy or drowsy. Most of these side effects do not need medical attention and resolve with time. However, if any of these symptoms persist for a long time or worsen, consult your doctor at the earliest. Resitan AMH Tablet is recommended to be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the dose based on your clinical condition. Do not self-medicate or stop on your own even if you feel better. Resitan AMH Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid drinking alcohol while on treatment with this medicine as it may further decrease your blood pressure. Resitan AMH Tablet has an impact on pre-existing medical conditions. Inform your doctor about any medical conditions that you may have, like diabetes and heart, liver and kidney problems, before taking this medicine. Your doctor will regularly monitor your heart function and blood pressure while you are on this medication.

Allergy

Do not take Resitan AMH Tablet if you are allergic to this medicine. Seek medical attention if you notice allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives (painful eruptions that itch and sting), swelling ( of your face, lips, tongue, etc.), breathing difficulty, etc.

Aliskiren

Aliskiren (a medicine used for reducing high blood pressure) is a first-line medicine used in the treatment of hypertension. Taking Resitan AMH Tablet and Aliskiren together is not recommended as it may lead to kidney damage, increase in your blood pressure and hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in the blood). This may cause other side effects such as irregular heartbeat, muscle paralysis, heart attack, etc. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population, in people with diabetes and kidney problems.

Anuria

Anuria is a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine. Resitan AMH Tablet should be avoided for use if you have anuria. This medicine may cause certain severe side effects and worsen your condition.

Severe Kidney disease

Resitan AMH Tablet is excreted through the kidneys. This medicine is not recommended if you have kidney problems, as it may accumulate in the kidneys leading to other undesirable effects and may further worsen your condition.

Resitan AMH Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it may cause death or altered body part development in the foetus. Discuss all the potential benefits and risks with your doctor before taking this medicine.

General warnings

Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalemia is an increase in potassium levels in your blood. Resitan AMH Tablet may cause hyperkalemia and lead to side effects such as cardiac rhythm irregularities (changes in the heartbeat). It is advised that you avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Liver Disease

Resitan AMH Tablet is absorbed in the liver and improper liver function can lead to its accumulation. Avoid taking this medicine if you have severe liver problems.

Driving or operating machines

Resitan AMH Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is advised that you do not perform activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Myocardial infarction and angina

Myocardial infarction (MI) is also known as a heart attack. It occurs due to permanent damage to the heart muscle. Angina is chest pain or discomfort caused by a lack of oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle. Resitan AMH Tablet should be used with caution in such conditions, especially while starting the treatment or increasing the dose because it may worsen the symptoms of myocardial infarction or angina.

Volume and electrolyte depletion

Resitan AMH Tablet may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance. This risk is especially higher if you have pre-existing kidney and liver problems.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Resitan AMH Tablet as soon as you remember. If the time for your next dose is near, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Overdose of this medicine may cause dizziness, decreased heart rate and vasodilation (dilation of blood vessels). Seek emergency medical help if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Resitan AMH Tablet.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart does not pump enough blood to meet the demands of your body. Taking Resitan AMH Tablet in this condition may increase the risk of a heart attack. Your heart function will be closely monitored by your doctor in such conditions.

Hypotension

Resitan AMH Tablet is not recommended for use if you have hypotension (low blood pressure) as it will further decrease your blood pressure. In case you are taking diuretics (water pills) or are being treated for volume depletion (loss of fluids in your body due to severe diarrhoea/vomiting, burns, kidney problems, etc), this medicine is not advisable for you. .

Coronary Artery Disease

Coronary artery disease is a condition in which there is an insufficient blood supply to your heart due to narrowing or blockage of blood vessels (coronary artery). Taking Resitan AMH Tablet may cause severe hypotension (low blood pressure). Your heart function will be closely monitored by your doctor in such conditions.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar levels are increased. Resitan AMH Tablet may cause an increase in blood sugar levels if you have Diabetes. Generally, these effects are reversible after discontinuing this medication. Your doctor will monitor your blood sugar levels regularly while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Hyperuricemia

Hyperuricemia is a condition in which there is an excess of uric acid in your blood. Take Resitan AMH Tablet with caution if you have had kidney problems due to the increased risk of hyperuricemia.
Food interactions
Grapefruit juice may decrease the effect of Resitan AMH Tablet. Hence avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
Avoid taking high potassium containing food or potassium supplements with Resitan AMH Tablet as it may cause an increase in the potassium levels in your blood. Consult your doctor if you have symptoms such as weakness, irregular heartbeat, confusion, tingling sensation or feeling of heaviness in your legs.

How it works
Resitan AMH Tablet is a combination of Amlodipine, Losartan and Hydrochlorthiazide. Amlodipine and Losartan both relax the blood vessels, thus improve blood flow and reduce blood pressure levels.
