It is used to treat muscle and joint pain in various conditions like sprains, frozen shoulder, arthritis (swelling, tenderness, and pain of one or more joints), lumbago (mild to severe low back pain), etc. It works by blocking the action of certain chemicals responsible for pain and swelling. Relaxyl Ointment may rarely cause side effects such as redness, rash, or itching at the site of application. These side effects are usually mild and resolve with time. However, consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. Relaxyl Ointment is meant for external use only. Wash and dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected area and spread uniformly. Do not cover the area with bandages or use heating pads unless directed by your doctor to do so. Avoid using it on broken skin or open wounds. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine comes in contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, and other sensitive parts, as it may cause irritation. How it works
Relaxyl Ointment is a combination of Methyl Nicotinate, Mephenesin, and Capsaicin. Methyl Nicotinate improves blood flow, produces redness of the skin, and causes a localised feeling of warmth. Thus it helps in relieving pain. Mephenesin blocks the pain signals from reaching the brain and relieves muscle stiffness or spasm. This improves the pain and movement of muscles. Capsaicin works by decreasing the intensity of pain signals in the body.
