Description
Rampitor (5/10 mg) Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of patients with both high blood pressure and hypercholesterolemia. Patients are advised to follow a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

Coadministration of aliskiren and this combination medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

Angioedema

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of angioedema due to the increased risk of recurrent symptoms.

Renal artery stenosis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of renal artery stenosis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women due to the increased risk of fetal harm. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.

Breast-feeding

General warnings

Cognitive impairment

This medicine may cause forgetfulness, memory loss, confusion, etc. in some patients. These side effects are reversible and usually disappear once the medicine is discontinued.

Altered blood sugar levels

This medicine may cause an alteration in the blood sugar levels. This risk is especially higher in patients with diabetes mellitus. Close monitoring of blood sugar levels may be necessary based on the clinical condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative should be done under your doctor's supervision.

Muscle degradation and Rhabdomyolysis

This medicine may cause muscle breakdown and rhabdomyolysis in some patients, a condition which can be fatal. This may cause symptoms such as severe tiredness and weakness. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with kidney diseases, hypothyroidism, and active muscle disorders. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Heavy alcohol consumption

This medicine may cause liver and kidney injuries in patients consuming alcohol very frequently and in large quantities. Hence, consumption of alcohol should be avoided during treatment with this medicine.

Liver impairment

This medicine may cause moderate to severe liver impairment in some patients. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Stroke

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients recovering from a stroke since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Hypotension

Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or patients who are treated with high doses of diuretics. It is advised to correct the condition before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may increase the potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (potassium-sparing diuretics and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Pediatric population

This medicine is not recommended for use in children since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Cough

This medicine may cause a persistent nonproductive cough in some patients. It is resolved when the medicine is discontinued.

Driving and operating machines

This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

The missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it is already time for your next scheduled dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

How it works
