Description

Pyrantel Pamoate is an anthelmintic or anti-worm medicine used to treat infections caused by worms such as pinworm, hookworm, and roundworm. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 2 years of age.

General warnings

Malnurition (or) Anemia

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with severe malnutrition or anemia. Ideally, anemic, dehydrated, or malnourished patients should receive supportive therapy prior to administration of this medicine.

Use in children

The use of this medicine is not recommended in children less than 2 years of age since the safety and efficacy has not been established.

Liver disorder

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with preexisting or active mild to moderate liver diseases due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Regular monitoring of the liver function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Initiation of the therapy with this medicine at low doses is advised. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience dizziness during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Usually, this medicine is given as a single dose, so take the medicine as soon as you remember. In case of multiple dose regimen, if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and contact your doctor for further instructions. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
