Description
Proctosedyl Ointment is rectal medicine containing Hydrocortisone and Dibucaine. It is used to relieve rectal pain and itching associated with haemorrhoids (a condition that occurs due to swelling of veins located in the anus or rectum). This medicine may also be used in treating other rectal conditions that are not mentioned above. Proctosedyl Ointment works by blocking certain chemicals causing pain and inflammation. Proctosedyl Ointment may cause side effects like itching, irritation, redness, burning sensation at the site of application. These side effects may disappear over time, however, consult your doctor if they disturb you or persist for a longer duration. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Proctosedyl Ointment is used externally. The duration of treatment will be decided by your doctor. Follow all the instructions given in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor for usage. Do not share your medicine with others if even the symptoms appear similar. Avoid contact with the eyes, inner ear, mouth, or open wounds. Proctosedyl Ointment is used in treating piles. Apply the prescribed amount of the ointment to the affected area as instructed by your doctor. Follow the directions provided on the prescription label/package insert. This medicine is meant for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth. In case of accidental contact, wash thoroughly with copious amounts of water. Wash your hands before and after the application of this medicine to the affected area. Do not use your fingers to apply Proctosedyl Ointment. Use the applicator provided. Take warm baths as they may help reduce pain and swelling and alleviate symptoms. Try to avoid holding in bowel movements for a long time as they may make your condition worse. Do not apply Proctosedyl Ointment in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Finish your entire prescribed period of treatment even if your symptoms begin to clear up after a few days. Avoid eating spicy and oily foods as they may worsen your condition. Make sure to drink plenty of water, eat a high-fibre diet, and exercise regularly to maintain healthy bowel function. Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Dispose of the unused or expired medication safely.
