Pregastar - OD 75 Tablet is an anti-epileptic medicine used for the treatment of certain types of seizures. It is also used to relieve pain associated with nerve damage caused by conditions such as diabetes, certain viral diseases, and fibromyalgia.

General warnings

Kidney disease and dialysis

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients having an impaired kidney function. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the serum creatinine clearance levels. Recommended dosage guidelines should be followed for patients on hemodialysis.

Suicidal tendencies

This medicine can cause suicide ideation and hence should be used with caution especially in people who have had such tendencies in past.

Driving or operating machinery

Avoid performing activities that need high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery as this medicine may increase the risk of drowsiness, dizziness, and difficulty in concentrating.

Withdrawal symptoms

Use of this medicine should not be stopped abruptly especially when used for epilepsy. The risk of adverse effects is high if it is withdrawn suddenly. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Angioedema

This medicine can cause swelling of the inner layers of the skin and can cause severe to fatal levels of respiratory blockage. Report any instance of chest pain and breathing difficulty to the doctor while you are using this medicine.

Edema

This medicine can cause fluid retention in the body and hence should be used with caution in patients suffering from any fluid retention disorders.

Heart block

This medicine can cause heart rhythm abnormalities which could result in blockage and associated complications. It should be used with caution in patients having a heart and blood vessel disease.

High creatinine kinase levels

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having a blood clotting disorder or high levels of creatinine kinase levels in the blood.
